Classes

Discover the classes we currently offer below. Whether you're an aspiring dancer or just starting out, our supportive community is here to help you.

  • Ballet is at the core of all dance styles. We offer classes for all ages and abilities. Learn classical techniques and styles in a positive, encouraging setting.

  • Contemporary dance is full of creativeness, expression and exploration of movement. Contemporary dance blends multiple movement styles. Whether you are a beginner or experienced mover, our contemporary classes will help you develop strength, flexibility and artistry all in a fun 1hr lesson.

  • Commercial dance is a high energy mix of jazz, hip-hop and modern styles. It is a fun and enthusiastic class for all!

  • We offer adult classes in Contemporary, ballet and commercial.

Who
we are

Principal/Owner: Amie Flynn

Amie founded the Institute of Dance in 2025 to bring exciting and professional dance classes to the Cranbrook area. Since opening, Institute Of Dance has been awarded the South England Prestige Award for Best New Dance School 2025/2026. Institute Of Dance is also featured on Kayak guides.

Dance and performing have always been her core passion and now having the opportunity to pass her industry experience onwards fuels our ethos. Amie ensures all lessons are enthusiastic, supportive and a safe space for anybody to experience the joy of dancing.

Amie trained at Rambert as a part of the prevocational course before graduating with a BA Hons in Dance Performance from the University of Chichester. Whilst here Amie had the opportunity to tour the UK performing shows and teaching workshops with 3Fall Dance Company. Amie then trained and performed in Munich before dancing as a part of Jasmin Vardimon’s JV2. Amie has danced globally working and learning from renowned choreographers and industry leaders as well as teaching a wide range of classes herself. Most recently Amie has been dancing with This Is Us Inclusive Dance Company.

Timetable

WEDNESDAY

  • A fun introduction to ballet aimed at little movers aged 4-5years

  • Exploring the fundamentals of ballet aimed at ages 6-7 years

  • An open level ballet class for all to enjoy!

THURSDAY

  • Guiding progression through the ballet grades

  • Dynamic and expressive classes exploring contemporary skills

FRIDAY

  • Energetic and fun new routines each week aimed at ages 7-11

  • The next step up in commercial classes time at ages 12-17.

  • Open to all ages and ability levels. Express yourself whilst learning new phrases.
